What is a content writing virtual assistant?
A content writing virtual assistant is a remote writer who plans and produces a business's written marketing content: blog articles, email newsletters, website pages, product descriptions, case studies and social captions. The assistant researches, drafts, edits and formats each piece, then loads it into the CMS or email tool for approval. At AssistBPO the writer is an employed member of the group, not a freelancer picked per article.

How does the content writing desk work?
-
Match
A 20-minute discovery call on your topics, audience, formats and house style. Within 72 hours we propose a named writer with three relevant samples and a short test piece on your subject, plus a trained backup.
-
Onboard
We build a style sheet from your existing content: tone, banned words, spelling, formatting and how you cite sources. You share the keyword list, product facts and interview access. The first month's calendar and the first two outlines are approved before drafting starts.
-
Daily rhythm
The writer starts the day with the calendar and any comments on drafts, researches and writes in the morning block, edits and formats in the afternoon, and loads finished pieces into your CMS as drafts. The end-of-day report lists what moved, what is waiting on your review and tomorrow's piece.
-
Weekly review
Twenty minutes with the team lead: pieces shipped, feedback themes, traffic or open rates on last month's content, and the next two weeks of topics. Monthly, the team lead scores two pieces on the QA scorecard for accuracy, voice and structure.
Hours, coverage and models
AssistBPO staffs the content writing desk on 3 models. US, UK and Canadian business hours from the group's two offices; Australian Eastern shifts available on request. Drafts are delivered in your time zone's morning.
- Dedicated writer, 80 or 160 hours a month
- Shared content pod, 20 or 40 hours a month for a set number of pieces
- Project block for a website rewrite or content migration

These are rate-card starting points. What you pay depends on the hours, the desk and the coverage window, which is what the staffing plan sets. Rates improve as you add assistants. Your staffing plan states the rate for the number of seats you need. The rate card carries the other currencies, the add-ons and the six things that move a plan off it.
How much does content writing cost?
Plans start at $400 a month for 40 hours, at $10 an hour, and rates improve as you add assistants. Get a staffing plan within 1 business day.
What moves the plan

- Coverage zone: business hours, after-hours, weekends or 24/7
- Tools and access to set up
- One person or a pod with a lead

Frequently asked questions
How much does a content writing virtual assistant cost?
Plans depend on hours, desks and coverage. Get a staffing plan within 1 business day. For orientation, Indeed lists US virtual assistants at $27.15 an hour, PayScale at $19.45, and premium services such as Boldly publish $65 to $79 an hour (Wishup 2026; Magic and Staffify roundups). AssistBPO prices a dedicated writer per person for a block of hours, so you plan the month by pieces rather than by invoice.
Is the content written by AI?
It is human-written with AI assistance and human editing. The writer uses AI for outlines, research summaries and first-pass phrasing, then writes, fact-checks and edits every piece by hand against your style sheet and named sources. Nothing is published straight from a generator, and the team lead scores two pieces a month for accuracy and voice.
How do you learn our voice?
We start with your five best pieces and your worst-rated one, and build a style sheet: sentence length, formality, formatting habits, words you use and words you never use. The writer then produces a short test piece before the calendar begins. Feedback from each revision is added to the sheet, so drafts drift closer to your voice month by month.
How many pieces can one writer produce?
A dedicated 160-hour writer usually produces eight to twelve researched articles of 1,000 to 1,500 words a month plus a weekly newsletter, or more short pieces such as product descriptions. Volume depends on research depth, interviews and revision rounds, which we agree at onboarding and check at the weekly review.
Do you handle SEO as part of writing?
Yes, the on-page basics: target keyword in the title, H1 and first paragraph, meta description, headings, internal links and alt text. Keyword research and rank tracking sit with the SEO assistant service; many clients pair the two so the writer works from a monthly keyword brief and the SEO assistant publishes and reports.
Can you write in UK, Australian or Canadian English?
Yes. Spelling and vocabulary are set per client and per market in the style sheet, and the writer runs a spelling pass before every delivery. For clients publishing in more than one market we keep separate style notes for each, so a UK page says telephone answering and a US page says phone answering.
What happens if we do not like a draft?
Send comments in the doc and the writer turns a revision around the same or next business day. Two rounds are normal; if a piece needs a third, the team lead reviews the brief with you to find the gap. Feedback themes from every revision go into the style sheet so the same note is not repeated.
Who owns the content?
You do, from the first draft. Every piece is written as work for hire for your business, stored in your drive and published under your name or your chosen author. We never reuse your content for another client and never publish it anywhere you have not approved.
