How does appointment setting work in the United Kingdom?

Outbound in the UK is governed by more than a script. PECR, the Telephone Preference Service, the Corporate TPS, Ofcom's persistent-misuse rules and the ICO's direct marketing guidance all decide who may be called, when, and from what number. Our UK setting desk is built around those rules rather than in spite of them. Your setter is an employee of the group, trained on your proposition and your objections, and works the list from 8am to 6pm on GMT or BST. B2B contacts are screened against the CTPS before the first dial, consent and legitimate-interest assessments are recorded in the CRM, calling line identity shows your business, and no number is dialled by machine. Email sequences follow PECR and carry an unsubscribe. Meetings are booked straight into your reps' Outlook or Google diaries with a confirmation, a reminder the day before and a short note on who the prospect is. You see dials, conversations, meetings set and meetings held on a weekly report, quoted in GBP per setter for a block of hours, not per appointment.

What is different about running this desk in the United Kingdom?

The same desk, run to the rules, hours and vocabulary of this market.

  1. TPS and CTPS screening

Individuals and sole traders sit on the TPS, companies on the Corporate TPS. Every UK list is screened against both before dialling and re-screened every 28 days, with the result stored against the record so an auditor can see why a number was called.

  2. PECR and the ICO's guidance

PECR covers live marketing calls and email. Live B2B calls can rely on legitimate interests where the contact is not registered; email to individuals needs consent or the soft opt-in. The setter never works a purchased list without your data protection sign-off.

  3. Ofcom persistent misuse

No silent or abandoned calls, a working caller ID that displays your business, and a cap on attempts per number per day. Setters dial by hand from your VoIP platform, never from an autodialler, and log every attempt with a timestamp.

  4. UK outbound cost context

UK virtual PA agencies publish £25 to £45 an hour for UK-based staff, PayScale puts employed assistants at £15.33 an hour, and offshore managed staff are advertised at £900 to £2,000 a month full time (SVA, PayScale and 2026 agency price lists).

How it works

  1. Match

A 20-minute discovery call on who you sell to, where the list comes from, what a qualified meeting means, your CRM and calendar setup and the markets you call into. Within 72 hours we propose a named setter with experience in your sector and an accent match for your prospects, plus a trained backup.

  2. Onboard

We write the script and objection guide with you, load and scrub the list, connect the dialer to your CRM and reps' calendars, set calling windows per market and run recorded practice calls until the team lead signs off. The first live campaign starts in week two.

  3. Daily rhythm

The setter works the list in permitted hours, logs every outcome in the CRM as it happens, books meetings with notes, sends confirmations for tomorrow and chases any no-shows from today. The end-of-day report shows dials, conversations, meetings booked and anything a rep needs to know before the morning.

  4. Weekly review

20 minutes with the team lead: meetings booked and held, conversation rate by list, objections heard most, script changes and next week's calling plan. Monthly, the team lead scores a random sample of recordings on the QA scorecard for script adherence, compliance and tone.

Frequently asked questions

How much do appointment setting services cost in the UK?

Plans depend on hours, desks and coverage. Get a staffing plan within 1 business day. For orientation, UK virtual PA and outbound agencies publish £25 to £45 an hour for UK-based staff, SVA surveys cluster around £28 to £35, and offshore managed full-time staff are listed at £900 to £2,000 a month against £3,000 to £5,000 for a UK employee (SVA, PayScale and 2026 agency price lists). AssistBPO quotes in GBP per setter for a block of hours, with dials, CRM work and reporting included, rather than a fee per meeting that rewards quantity over fit.

Do you have appointment setters in the UK?

No. Setters are employees of the group working from our offices in Vancouver, Washington and a second office in Pakistan, on a shift that mirrors the UK day from 8am to 6pm. They dial from your UK VoIP number so the prospect sees your business on caller ID, and they are trained on UK business vocabulary, regions and the rules above. We do not have a UK office, and we do not use freelancers or a shared dialling floor. If your buyers expect a UK-based caller by contract, we will say so up front.

Is calling businesses in the UK still allowed?

Yes, within PECR. A live call to a business contact whose number is not on the TPS or CTPS can rely on legitimate interests, provided you can show why the call is relevant, you identify yourself, and you stop when asked. Numbers on either register may not be called for marketing without consent. Every list is screened before dialling, every objection is logged as an opt-out in your CRM, and campaigns run with lawful consent and do-not-call scrubbing as a standing rule rather than an afterthought.

Can the setter use LinkedIn and email as well as the phone?

Yes, and most UK campaigns use all three. LinkedIn connection notes and follow-ups go from your rep's profile or a company page with your approval of the wording. Email sequences run from your CRM with your domain, PECR-compliant content, an unsubscribe on every message and suppression of anyone who opts out by any channel. The phone is used for the contacts who engage. Touches are logged in one timeline per contact so your reps see the whole conversation before the meeting.

How do you stop booked meetings turning into no-shows?

By booking properly and confirming twice. The setter books into the rep's diary with a calendar invite the prospect accepts, sends a short confirmation email with the agenda, and a reminder the working day before, by email or a brief call. Meetings are qualified against your criteria before they are set, so the prospect has a reason to attend. No-shows are chased the same day for a new time, and the weekly report shows the held rate so we can adjust the script when it drops.

Who owns the list, the data and the results?

You do. Lists, contacts, call notes, recordings where you make them and every meeting sit in your CRM, under your account. The setter works with an individual login, screening results are stored on your records, and nothing is copied to our systems or reused for another client. When the engagement ends you remove the login and keep everything. The data processing agreement with the international data transfer addendum sets that out in writing before the first dial.
