How are remote video editors vetted?
5 gates, in order. A candidate who fails one does not reach the next.
- English and phone assessment
- Typing and tool tests
- Background check
- NDA and security onboarding
- Shadowing and QA scorecard
Candidates who clear all 5 gates are proposed to you by name within 72 hours.
Editors walk us through two of their own cuts on a call and explain the pacing choices. We check spoken and written English closely because captions, on-screen text and revision notes are part of every delivery, and a misspelled caption on your ad is your problem, not ours.
A timed edit from a supplied 20-minute recording: three vertical clips with captions and a brand sting, a 60-second cut-down, and a thumbnail. We look at hook choice, caption accuracy, audio leveling, export settings and file naming, in Premiere or Resolve and in CapCut.
Identity, address and employment verified, references from previous studios, agencies or creators, and a check that showreel work is the candidate's own.
Signed NDA covering unreleased footage, launches and anyone who appears on camera, access to footage through drives you control, MFA, managed devices, and no client media stored on personal accounts or devices.
The first two weeks run with the team lead reviewing every cut before it reaches you. Monthly, the lead scores a sample on hook strength, caption accuracy, audio and color, brief adherence, turnaround and revision count.
The full pipeline is on the how we hire and manage assistants page. Assistants are employees of the group, never freelancers, and you never co-employ them.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to hire a remote video editor?
Plans depend on hours, desks and coverage. Get a staffing plan within 1 business day. For context, published offshore managed staffing runs $7 to $15 an hour or $640 to $2,400 a month full-time (Wishup, Cherry Assistant and Zedtreeo, 2026), UK freelance rates sit around £28 to £35 an hour in SVA surveys, and Australian onshore assistants publish A$39.90 to A$65 an hour. A dedicated AssistBPO editor is one person for a block of hours each month, so a launch week with thirty clips does not become a surprise invoice.
Is it the same person every day?
Yes. One named editor learns your pacing, your caption style, which of your presenters needs more cutaway coverage and where your logo sting goes. A backup editor works from the same project templates and brand kit so leave does not stall a launch, and a team lead reviews the request board with you every week. Your footage does not go to a rotating queue.
What hours will the editor work?
Your hours on US, UK, Canadian or Australian time, from the group's two offices. Because editing is asynchronous, many clients pick a shift that runs while they sleep: footage uploaded at the end of your day is cut and captioned by the time you log in, and revision notes you leave in the morning are handled before your afternoon. Live overlap is reserved for review calls and launch days.
How are video editors vetted?
A showreel walkthrough and call to test spoken and written English, a timed edit test from a supplied recording covering short clips, a cut-down and a thumbnail, a background check with references and showreel authenticity, a signed NDA with footage access through your drives, and a two-week supervised period where the team lead reviews every cut. After that the monthly QA scorecard tracks hooks, captions, audio, color and turnaround.
Is the editor an employee or a contractor?
An employee of SS Support Network LLC, the group that runs AssistBPO. Editors are salaried, managed staff with paid leave and a training path; we do not place freelancers or contractors and you never co-employ the person. You engage AssistBPO for a staffed editing desk, which is why a backup editor and a team lead are part of the arrangement rather than something you have to organize yourself.
Which editing software do you use?
Whatever fits the work and your team. Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve for long-form, ads and anything needing serious color or audio work; CapCut for fast vertical cuts with trend-aware captions; After Effects or Canva for titles and simple motion. Project files are kept in your drive so a different editor, or your in-house team, can open them later. Licenses run under your accounts where you already have them.
How do you handle revisions and turnaround?
Every request has a brief, a due date and two revision rounds by default. Short vertical clips usually turn around within a working day; a long-form episode, ad set or webinar replay takes one to three working days depending on footage length and how much cleanup it needs. We agree a turnaround table during onboarding, and rush requests are flagged on the board so the lead can rebalance the week.
Can the editor also post the videos?
Yes, if you want publishing on the same desk. The editor can schedule to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn with titles, descriptions, tags and thumbnails, working from your approved calendar. Many clients pair the editor with a social media manager inside a marketing pod so captions, posting times and replies are handled by someone whose whole job is the feed.
